You have multiple options for selecting interpreter language for your Sorenson VRS calls:

  1. The easiest way to choose your VRS interpreter language is by turning on our language toggle feature. This allows you to choose the VRS language for every call right from your dial screen.
  2. You can set a default VRS language for each of your contacts. When you open one of your saved contacts, you can choose a language preference in their settings that VRS calls will default to when you call that person.
  3. When a Sorenson interpreter picks up your VRS call, you can ask them for a Spanish-speaking interpreter and they’ll transfer your call if necessary.
  4. In you have Spanish language features enabled for your Sorenson app or videophone, you can choose to make a Spanish VRS call and then tell the interpreter the number you want to call.
When you call 911 through VRS, we’ll move your call to the front of the line. When you tell the interpreter your emergency, they’ll ask your location so you can confirm you’re either at your home address or you’re away from home. They will relay information between you and the emergency services, staying on the line with you until you get help.

Register for a Sorenson Video Relay Account

Registration is required for any Sorenson Video Relay services.

FCC rules permit you to port your telephone number to the VRS provider of your choice.  If you request a new number, Sorenson will provide you with one for the geographic area where you live or work. To ensure proper routing of 911 calls, it is important that you provide, and update in the event it changes, the physical address (i.e., the Registered Location) from which you are placing the call. You can update your Registered Location by calling 801-386-8500 or by visiting https://es.sorenson.com/vrs/vrs/manage-account/. Emergency calls made via internet-based TRS may not function the same as traditional E911 service. For example, you may not be able to dial 911 if there is an internet-service failure or if you lose electrical power, and your 911 call may not be routed correctly if you have not updated your Registered Location. Hearing point-to-point video users will not be able to place emergency calls. For more information on the process of obtaining ten-digit numbers and the limitations and risks associated with using Sorenson’s VRS to place a 911 call, please visit Sorenson’s website: https://es.sorenson.com/legal/.
